I am SO excited to announce a brand-new linkup: Tell Me About Your Town.
The idea stemmed from my own list of future blog post ideas and a few that I wanted to write telling you all about my town. Living in North Dakota now, I know that there are tons of misconceptions about our state – most people either confuse us with Montana or Minnesota, some think we’re nothing more than a cold wasteland, and others just think we put people in wood chippers (thanks Coen brothers). Fargo has so much more to offer, but because we’re up in the tundra and there’s not many of us, it’s hard to get word out about what we’re really about up here.
I also love hearing about other people’s towns. Where we live is a little bit a part of who we are, dontcha think? By sharing more about the places we live, we gain a little more insight into the people that live there. Plus, what an easy way to learn more about travel! I don’t have the money to travel the world or the U.S., but I can read about different places through your eyes. And if I ever pass through some state or city on a trip, I want real people’s tips about what to see and do there.
At first I thought I wanted this to be a one-time linkup. I sent out a Tweet asking for co-hosts. And then things spiraled and I got so much feedback and ideas that it became pretty evident I needed to make this a recurring thing. I outlined all the possible topics within this town theme and have enough for a whole year. Oops, lol.
And so: Each month I will have a new co-host for the linkup to share the love, and you can visit me and the other blogger to write and link up your own posts about your town.
Here are the details:
This monthly linkup is to celebrate all the amazing places we all are from, to shine some light on the spots all over the country (or world!) us bloggers live. Our locations may not define us, but they certainly shed insight into who we are and how we live. Join me and my co-host on the third Tuesday of each month where we will have one specific topic related to your towns to guide you in writing about your city. So…tell me about your town!
The Rules: To participate in this linkup, simply write your own post following our topic/prompt for the month and add your link to the list on the day the linkup goes live. Include the button (you can grab the code below) or a link back to me in your post. Follow me and my co-host and visit at least one other post from the linkup. You may write about the town you currently live in, the place you were born and raised, or any other place that feels like home to you. Share as many photos as you wish! Make me want to visit your town! Each linkup will be open for one week.
The first linkup will go live on Tuesday, November 18. My first co-host is the fabulous Rebecca Chapman! The theme is: Things you’re thankful for about your town. This works a Thanksgiving theme in and is a general enough one to get us warmed up. Future months will have new themes such as your favorite restaurants, hometown celebs, date night spots and more. In each month’s post, I will announce the following month’s topic and co-host.
*special thanks to Melissa from The Rambling Llama for designing this button for me!*
So, please join me and Rebecca on November 18 and tell us all about the things in your town you’re thankful for. Come back to either of our blogs that morning and link up. Then, watch for the next co-host and topic announcement for the next third Tuesday to tell me about your town (can you tell I like alliteration?!).
Let me know of any questions! Otherwise I cannot wait to read all about tour towns!
