I meant to do this as the linkup that was circulating awhile back, but never got to it. Once again I’m late to the party. Anyway, considering my first two posts this week were about being real, I thought this fit with that theme and I’d share with you all a look into my boring life. For the record, I love reading about other people’s lives, even if it’s about their uneventful days.

I choose to document a weekday since obviously there are more of those, and therefore more indicative of how my time is spent.

7:23 am: Alarm goes off. Hit snooze. Repeat several more times.

8:15 am: Realize I slept too late, jump out of bed, try to shower quickly, check the weather to choose what to wear, get distracted by the cats, then more often than not, realize I need to be on the way already, so grab my makeup and throw it in my purse to do it in the car. (Sshh, I only apply it at stoplights!)

9 am/ish: Arrive at work. Get coffee, put my lunch in the fridge if I brought one, sit down, go through emails and read the news while eating yogurt and Belvitas.

work desk

9:30 am/ish-5:30 pm/ish: Writing, proofing, more writing, more proofing, snacking, spilling and cleaning up, warming up my lunch and eating at my desk while checking Twitter, Instagram, blogs, etc., more writing and more proofing, more snacking, more spilling, yay it’s time to go!

lunch

6 pm: Go to Target and buy all the things.

drivingDon’t worry, I took this while waiting at the light to enter the magical land of Target.

6:45 pm: Get frustrated at Target’s lack of good produce selection; swing by the local grocery store for my asparagus, lettuce and berries.

7 pm: Unload and unpack all the Target things and either A) call the husband and ask him to carry in the heavy bags, or B) haul in all 8 bags by myself in one trip and end up with indents in my very sore arms. Put all the things away, then end up cleaning out the fridge while I’m at it.

7:30 pm ish: Get the mail, start a load of laundry, pick up around the bedroom while I’m at it. This stage may also involve a chips and dip break.

mailOh look, bills and pamphlets I don’t care about.

laundryGotta love crappy apartment washers.

8 pm ish: Turn on my Spotify party playlist while I go through emails, write some blog posts, respond to comments, read a magazine, do freelance/volunteer stuff, play with the pets, make a pie, scrub the bathroom, talk to my mom, or whatever else distracts me.

9 pm ish: Realize I got WAY off track. Make some food and eat it while watching reality TV shows off the DVR and cuddling the cat.

10 pm ish: Husband gets home if it’s a band practice day (otherwise he witnesses all my frantic running around and getting distracted), and we watch a show together over popsicles. Every single day ends with a popsicle in our household from about May-October.

11 pm ish: Brush my teeth, think about washing my face but then realize that sounds like a lot of work, maybe set out an outfit for the next day if I feel ambitious, check email and Facebook one last time, grab Captain and crawl into bed. Lay awake while snuggling either the husband or the cat, maybe both, and worry about what I may have forgotten to do today, what I need to do tomorrow, what I should cook over the weekend, if we need more bacon, etc., etc., then finally drift into sleepy time.

Exciting, right?!

Is this what your day resembles too?

  1. Lol, pretty much. I need to do one of these posts, but with this wedding, my days are looking more and more insane!

This is just making me hungry hahaha

  3. haha perfect. My day sounds a lot like this too. And I love that you guys end the day with a popsicle together! How cute is that?!

I love reading these! I should do one. And now I want bacon 🙂

  5. “6 pm: Go to Target and buy all the things.”

ha! target is a dangerous place! so sweet you guys always share a popsicle together!

    • Oh yes, I (maybe sadly) end up at Target after work at least three times a week. It seems the second I get home after a haul, I think of one more thing I forgot.
And it’s totally small and silly but gosh dangit, I so look forward to my nightly popsicle date:)

My day is totally similar during the school year, as I work in a school. Right now, my day is pretty boring on summer vacation…but I don’t want to change it, haha!

My husband convinced me to buy freezies, and we end up eating 3 or 4 (shhh) each night because it’s so warm!

  7. 6pm Target is pretty much the story of my life. That and trying to grab all the groceries in one trip so I don’t have to go all the way down 3 flights of stairs for more.

  8. Go to Target and buy all of the things is definitely my favorite part haha

  9. Kathryn says:

Lol. You can hold off on dinner until 9pm?! Holy cow, Amanda. 5:30pm and I am at the table, fork in hand. 😉

Love this post. You inspired me to do one of my own. 🙂

    • Haha, well not always but a lot of the time it is later than it should be. I just get so caught up in doing things then I’m like, “crap it’s 9!” I also snack during the day more than I should…

I really need to do one of these posts! I love reading day in the life posts!

  11. For some reason I really love reading posts like this. Maybe because I’m nosy, but I enjoy them.

  12. Emily says:

This was so cute! (And hilarious.) I totally end up carrying all of the grocery bags by myself and of course doing it in one trip so that my hands shake for the next 2 hours. We always end the day with popsicles too! 🙂
